Monuments of Collectivism
INDA - Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Architecture, Bangkok, Thailand
A poetic approach to the essence of Soviet ideology, the movie reconstructs a day in a fictional Soviet city.
Constructed out of a collage of images taken across Russia, the movie assembles a city where ideology prevails to serve the citizen. Following the trans-Siberian train from Irkutsk to Moscow, the film constructs an imaginary city built from pieces of architecture reflecting the past. This assemblage of collective memory creates a sense of a continuous, universal, all-encompassing space.
‘Monuments of Collectivism’ was presented at the Archstoyanie Festival 2019.
